Side Effects & Safety
The safety profile of a slimming tea depends on its actual ingredients, amounts, frequency of use, medicines and the person drinking it.
Caffeine-containing tea
Green and oolong tea naturally contain caffeine. NCCIH notes that green tea can interact with some medicines; caffeine may also be relevant during pregnancy or for people who are caffeine-sensitive.
Senna and laxative action
Senna-derived sennosides are used as stimulant laxatives. Current U.S. OTC labeling for senna laxatives warns against using laxative products for longer than one week unless directed by a doctor and lists situations in which medical advice is appropriate.
If you take medicines, are pregnant or breastfeeding, have gastrointestinal symptoms, or have a medical condition, ask a qualified healthcare professional about the specific formula.
