Product Safety

A useful safety review starts with the actual formula—not the word “natural.” Two ingredients deserve particular attention: caffeine-containing tea and senna.

Caffeine considerations

Green and oolong tea contain caffeine. Sensitivity varies, and NCCIH advises discussing herbal products with a healthcare provider when medicines are involved because interactions can occur.

Senna considerations

Senna's recognized pharmacologic role is as a stimulant laxative. U.S. OTC senna labeling warns against using laxative products for longer than one week unless directed by a doctor.

When professional advice is especially sensible

Seek individualized guidance if you have persistent gastrointestinal symptoms, take medicines, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a health condition that may change the risk-benefit balance.
