Do Slimming Teas Work?
Some tea ingredients have been studied for weight management, but that does not mean every product marketed as a slimming tea causes meaningful fat loss.
The evidence is more modest than the marketing
NCCIH says green tea catechins and caffeine may have a modest effect on body weight, while its broader tea summary says green tea has not been shown effective for weight loss. A Cochrane review found green-tea preparations produced a small, statistically nonsignificant effect that was unlikely to be clinically important.
Three different scale effects
Body-fat loss reflects changes in stored energy. Water-weight changes can move the scale quickly without equivalent fat loss. Laxative effects change bowel contents and should not be interpreted as a fat-loss mechanism.
